Use content across publications
The sports car story is a big hit with readers. The magazine is selling like hotcakes at newsstands, and the article is generating lots of Web traffic, with high click rates and long user visits. Reason enough for Kirsten, the lifestyle editor of a men’s magazine from the same publisher, to use Mark’s pictures and research results in her article about men and the types of cars they prefer. She uses the content pool to access the different departments and publications of the publishing house. The Web CMS (content management system) and K4 share statistics, such as the click count, which is a big help for Kirsten because it lets her analyze reader response to the Web article. She can then use the pictures the readers liked best in her article. Journalists like Mark and other editors in the same department can archive content that has not been earmarked for a specific purpose in a K4 Collection, a master folder of sorts for content related to a given topic. Afterwards, Kirsten retrieves even more pictures and copy for her article from this collection.
“Great; I’ve just created an up-to-date article with fresh pictures with very little effort and expenses,” Kirsten says, congratulating herself on a job well done. Others are equally happy with the benefits K4 brings to the publishing business: Her managing editor is already looking forward to a follow-up article that Kirsten can write with very little lead time, saving the publishing house time and money.
