LEO-Event is a multimedia events database with countless options for recording and maintaining event, customer service and address data. For example – to name just a few of LEO-Event’s benefits – data can be recorded centrally or locally, the system can automatically check for duplicate entries and it is not tied to any particular platform in terms of hardware and software (e.g. server, databases, workstations etc.). The ingenious LEO-Event system streamlines all workflow processes – simply, quickly and always up-to-date. Data can be managed and used in a wide variety of different ways, getting to the very heart of content management in a highly convenient way. LEO-Event is useful for any company publishing details of events, customer service addresses or similar information – whether in print, online or both. Data is recorded just once and can then be sorted, listed and summarised in any desired format.

Since 2005, LEO-Event is used successfully within K4 at Time Out New York. Under the new workflow, Time Out New York receives its external feed on a daily basis in XML form and automatically loads it into LEO-Event. Extract routines push the listings out in XML form to InDesign for print or to Xyleme for the Web. For the reviews that are authored in-house, staff can check out the reviews from the LEO-Event database as XML files that get loaded into InDesign. Production staff can edit to fit in InDesign or route the XML files as InCopy articles to writers and copyeditors, who edit to fit within InCopy. When reviews are ready to be published, they are exported from InDesign as XML and loaded into LEO-Event.
