How do you vjoon? Product Presentation and Party at the K4 User Conference

More than 150 K4 users, distributors, and technology partners from Germany, the USA, Russia, Malaysia, the UK, France, Benelux, and many more countries near and far gathered in Hamburg, the port city that is Germany‘s gateway to the world. They answered the call to come and see the latest K4 version, and swap stories and ideas. A morning demo of K4 6.0 in action kicked off the conference, and vjoon totally lived up to its user’s expectations.

Cool, clever, handy – were the reactions of quite a few participants at the conference, probably due to the fact that K4 6.0 makes life a lot easier and more secure for everyone involved in production: For example you can assign parallel tasks to different people, split the workflow for as many output channels you wish to provide with content. And we have also changed the user interface of all our clients. Using a graphic editor and wizards for user- and workflow administration, K4 Admin in now completely intuitive and user-friendly.

Why vjoon?

“vjoon stands for our mission — vision, value, and cooperation,” said Andreas Schrader, Managing Director and CEO of vjoon GmbH, explaining the name change from SoftCare. “We have become so much more than just a company producing a publishing system. We have turned K4 into a publishing platform that can flexibly handle continuously evolving editorial structures and individually control and fill any number of media channels.” When the company was launched as SoftCare in 1990, it pursued a vision. It was one of the first to develop plug-ins for Adobe and integrate editing solutions. Today, more than 300 K4 systems are installed worldwide at publishing houses and corporate publishers.

Further highlights followed with top speakers sharing their insights. Tim Cole, Adobe Evangelist, presented Adobe Creative Suite 4, slated for November or December release. Chris Rousseau, Vice President of the publishing powerhouse McGrawHill Companies USA, talked about a schoolbook production for the US market involving more than 1,000 K4 seats. Leif Skogstad, Commercial Director of Addison Corporate Marketing London, demonstrated the benefits of using K4 to generate business reports. To wind up the conference, vjoon hosted a dinner and cocktails at east, a stylish Hamburg bar and eatery.
