Beiersdorf AG relies on SNAP Innovation and K4 for Publishing Financial Reports

Beiersdorf AG of Hamburg has contracted with SNAP Innovation GmbH to operate a system which is based on vjoon K4 and Adobe InDesign/InCopy for the production of financial reports and other print publications. The decision had been preceded by an intensive testing phase, during which the 2007 financial report of Beiersdorf was produced. Now that the pilot project has been successfully completed, the system has transitioned to regular operation.
SNAP operates and services the publishing system on an externally hosted server. In a parallel process, the company also supplies Beiersdorf AG with Adobe InCopy clients through a terminal server solution. Design and lithographic partners are integrated through secure lines, while SNAP provides the user support. According to customer comments, the new publishing system made the coordination and proofreading processes of financial publications much more efficient and effective. Additionally, training expenditures had been very low because of the user-friendly design of the tool.
SNAP Innovation developed the general concept together with Beiersdorf Shared Services GmbH, the internal IT service provider of Beiersdorf AG. In addition to financial reports, the system will be used to produce other publications, such as an employee newsletter that is distributed in several languages.
Vattenfall Europe produces terravatt using K2
K2 gets more and more popular with Corporate Publishers. The latest proof is vjoon's relatively new customer – the heat and energy producer Vattenfall with its 20,000 German employees. The company has decided for K2 to optimize the production of its company magazine terravatt, which is the main medium of communication at Vattenfall. terravatt is published ten times a year with a number of 50,000 copies, each magazine having 68 pages. The editorial team is working in offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Cottbus and Leipzig, an external agency is responsible for layout and production.
„We have been using vjoon K2 for half a year now. The system is working absolutely properly and stable. I can say that the expected effects have become fully true. I am very satisfied”, says Siegfried Wagner, editor-in-chief of terravatt. The main task of K2 at terravatt is to synchronize its decentralized method of operation of the editorial team at three company sites and the integration of an external agency.
