vjoon Offers K4 as a Full-Service Rental Application

Media companies, publishing houses, and corporate publishers since May have the option to rent vjoon‘s K4 Publishing System. According to their individual situation, publishers can hire as many K4 workstations, K4 Web Editor licenses, and other system components such as K4 Overview or K4 XML Exporter as their projects, order position, and workload demand. This new rental offering benefits both new and existing customers. New customers can test the system, existing customers can add additional K4 seats to their current system as needed. K4 runs locally or remotely as a solution hosted by one of vjoon‘s integration partners. As an added bonus, the costs for Adobe® InDesign® CS4 Server and the database are included in the rental fee. This enables Adobe InDesign and InCopy® users to test the system and experience the time and cost savings brought on by K4 under actual production conditions.

Best available rental application

„With the opportunity of hosting K4 externally, including the Adobe InDesign CS4 Server, vjoon offers its customers the best rental service available on the market today," states Holger Kraemer, Director of Business Development at vjoon. Including Adobe InDesign Server, K4 rental customers can enjoy the complete K4 portfolio, especially they can make full use of Web-based K4 applications such as K4 Web Editor and the production-monitoring K4 Overview tool.

Full flexibility - full service

"Considering the global media crisis and the uncertain future of magazine titles, publishing houses are often compelled to plan for the short term," says Marion Schrader, vjoon co-founder and CFO. "Corporate publishers also have to stay flexible enough to increase their capacities and resources to handle peak workloads - for instance, when business reports are due. Agencies tasked to handle temporary production projects also benefit from K4's ability to improve productivity and prevent errors."

vjoon brings this flexibility to its customers on all levels. Again, it may be deployed locally or hosted on an integration partners' hardware. Catering to customers who rent first and then opt to buy, vjoon credits most of the rental fee towards the purchase. Legacy customers may temporarily rent as many extra K4 workstations as they wish. With all this, K4 clearly reduces investment risk for both publishing houses and corporate publishers.
