Renowned U.S. publishing houses are now placing their stakes on the SoftCare K4 Publishing System
December 20, 2007
Leading political publisher Congressional Quarterly, renowned lifestyle magazine “Parade” and multi-media company Advanstar Communications have one thing in common: All three American media businesses rely on high-class German workmanship in the production of their publications. More precisely, all three recently installed the publishing system K4 from SoftCare in Germany. As the year comes to a close, the publishing experts at SoftCare can boast several new big names on their list of American customers, also including the campus newspapers “The Cavalier Daily” of University of Virginia and the “Daily Northwestern” of Northwestern University. SoftCare K4 enables publishing houses to manage their entire editorial processes based on two Adobe text and layout applications - InCopy and InDesign. Congressional Quarterly even uses K4 to cover different media, generating the print and online version of its popular magazine “CQ Weekly” as well as its newspaper “CQ Today” with the SoftCare publishing system.
“Fast publication, bridging distances, verifying information – these are the success factors of large newspapers and magazines,” says Andreas Schrader, Managing Director of SoftCare. K4 allows designers, picture editors, Head of Production and copy editors to process their pages at the same time – at a virtual table, as it were. This means that they are up to date on each stage of production at all times. “With these latest installations, K4 has a decisive impact on news production for a large American audience”, adds Schrader.
