WAZ Mediengruppe has opted for a publishing solution provided by the Hamburg-based vendor vjoon, formerly known as SoftCare. WAZ Mediengruppe tasked the system integrator SNAP Innovation to set up 120 K4 workstations at its Düsseldorf offices. Friedrich Fuchsberger, head of WAZ’s information processing and distribution logistics department, Paul Hörbelt, head of the publishing systems unit at SNAP Innovation, and Marion Schrader, general manager of vjoon, announced the deal at the IFRA Expo in Amsterdam.

“WAZ Mediengruppe attaches great value to stability and sustainability. We chose K4 because it provides us with a robust, efficient system whose open standard interfaces enable us to face future production requirements with confidence,” notes Friedrich Fuchsberger, head of WAZ’s information processing and distribution logistics. “The state-of-the-art concept of the upcoming version K4 6.0 affirms our decision that we have taken the right step into the future.

”The publishing house intends to modernize the production of leading women’s magazines such as “Das Goldene Blatt”, “Echo der Frau”, “frau aktuell”, and “Neue Welt” with K4. SNAP Innovation was tasked to build a new production environment from the ground up. The Hamburg-based system integrator will equip 120 workstations with K4, Adobe InDesign, and InCopy, and integrate the page planning application JournalDesigner, FotoWare image editing software, and EnfocusSoftware workflow tools.

“The people at WAZ Mediengruppe know that with K4, they have acquired a high-quality product they can count on,” comments Marion Schrader, general manager of vjoon, on this latest K4 deal. “In developing K4, we put a premium on innovation, user-friendliness, and stability, especially.”“We are delighted that another international leader in publishing has chosen to trust in our expertise”, says Paul Hörbelt of SNAP Innovation. “K4 is perfect for customers who have high standards for production systems and demand rapid implementation in a fast-tracked project.”
